World History Taiwan Group is a forum for promoting
the teaching and researching of world history in Taiwan. It welcomes all those
who are devoted to teaching and researching world history in Taiwan's
universities and research institutes to join in as members. The group is purely
academic. It provides a panel for members to communicate opinions, provide
informations, discuss issues, and share experiences on any aspect concerning
teaching and researching world history. It is hoped that through such efforts an
academic community on the research of world history will gradually take form in
Taiwan.

§ 臺灣與海洋亞洲
「在臺灣土生土長的我以為，以長期的規模來眺望臺灣歷史時，不僅是以漢民族的開發臺灣，或臺灣漢人社會的形成過程等中國史範疇來看而已；在東亞的架構乃至以世界史的契機來探討時，不應僅從國家單位的國際政治秩序為觀點， 毋寧應從國際政治社會形成之前，或是更原始、無文字之時代以來的東亞各地域間，人們互相交通往來的歷史推移中所產生的東亞交通圈、交易圈這類的角度來掌 握，似乎反而更有助於理解臺灣的歷史。」這一段話，原是我為恭賀箭內健次教授七十七歲大壽賀辭時，所寫文章裡的一段話，現在應周婉窈教授之請替「臺灣與海 洋亞洲」部落格為序，因此將此一段話送給她與該研究成員的學者們，祈望此段話能作為此一主題相關研究的一個起點。
